Uniloc USA Inc., a company providing physical device recognition anti-fraud technology, has filed a patent infringement suit in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, Tyler Division against Adobe Systems Inc., Symantec Corporation, Pinnacle Systems, Inc., Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Inc., Aladdin Knowledge Systems, Ltd., National Instruments Corporation, Pervasive Software, Inc., CA Technologies, Sonic Solutions, Onyx Graphics, Inc., and SafeNet Inc. The suit alleges unauthorized use of Uniloc's patented anti-piracy product activation method and system.
Uniloc's software allow organizations operating online to block unwanted users, fight fraud and make smarter decisions about whether to do business with a specific computer. Brad Davis, CEO of Uniloc said, "Our decision to take legal action against Adobe, Symantec and others was based on the need to protect our patented products.” He said patent infringement, “like the kind committed by Adobe and Symantec, stifles innovation and destroys American entrepreneurship."
Earlier this year, Uniloc initiated legal proceedings against Sony Corp., Activision Blizzard Inc. McAfee Inc., Quark Inc., Borland Software Corp, and Aspyr Media Inc. Prior to these litigations, the company also sued Microsoft Corp. over its use of a product activation key. |
