Two members of AMD senior management have decided to follow former CEO Dirk Meyer out of the company. AMD's COO and Administrative Officer Bob Rivet and Corporate Strategy SVP Marty Seyer have decided to move on, reports said.
Chief Executive Officer Dirk Meyer moved on from AMD in the wake of board members concerns about losing out on the tablet computer and smart phone market. Earlier, addressing analysts, Meyer reportedly said that AMD would wait to invest in developing microprocessors for tablets till the market grew some more. AMD's present range of chips addresses personal computers and servers, which pits it head-to-head with market leader Intel.
Both executives will serve out a transition period before departing from the company for new opportunities, reports quoted the company as saying. Corporate Controller Devinder Kumar is reported to be looking after the COO role while Harry Wolin will manage the Corporate Strategy SVP position. The CEO position is being looked after by CFO Thomas Seifert while the company's board works to find a replacement for Meyer. |
