Apple has unveiled a completely redesigned Mac mini that features twice the graphics performance, a new HDMI port, a new SD card slot, and a compact aluminum enclosure.
That new Mac mini is ensconced in a compact aluminum enclosure, 7.7 inches square and 1.4 inches thin. It features an integrated power supply, a feature that seems to now run across most Apple products, a removable panel underneath for quick access memory expansion, and the ability to hook up to virtually any existing peripheral such as mice, keyboards and digital displays.
The new HDMI output connects the Mac mini to an HDTV, while a new SD card slot enables easy transfer of photos and videos from a digital camera. It features the 48 processing cores of the NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor, delivering solid graphics performance for graphics intensive applications or visually rich games. The standard Mac mini comes with its 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 320GB hard and 2GB of RAM comes for $699, through the Apple Store and resellers. Build-to-order options and accessories include up to 8GB 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM, 500GB hard drive running at 5400 rpm, Apple Wireless Keyboard, Magic Mouse, Apple 24 inch LED Cinema Display and the AppleCare Protection Plan.
The Mac mini with Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server is priced at around $999 retail.
