Apple has announced that its recently launched iPad sold its first millionth unit this Friday, 28 days after its was first launched on April 3. The company also said that iPad users, over the same time, downloaded more than 12 million applications from its App Store and over 1.5 million ebooks from the new iBookstore.
Apple's iPhone had taken around 74 days to sell its millionth unit, Apple CEO Steve Jobs said. “Demand continues to exceed supply and we’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more customers,” he said. The company said developers have created over 5,000 new apps for the iPad that use its Multi-Touch user interface, large screen and high-quality graphics. iPad is capable of running almost all of the over 200,000 apps on the App Store, including apps already purchased for the iPhone or iPod touch. |
