AVG has established a direct presence in France with the purchase of Square, its exclusive distributor since 2001, reaffirming its commitment to the French domestic market.
AVG Technologies, which develops the popular free anti-virus software of the same name, has announced the purchase of Square, currently the exclusive distributor of the French version of AVG Antivirus, and the opening of its office in France.
AVG said Square has distributed its offerings exclusively since 2001 across France and several French-speaking countries through the avgfrance.com Internet site and a network of specialized resellers.
AVG Technologies CEO JR Smith said the decision to buy Square was logical since it had been marketing AVG's solutions locally. “By establishing a local presence in France, we continue to show our commitment to the French domestic market,” he said, stating that the success of AVG, both with general consumers as well as small businesses, administrative bodies, local authorities and other organizations, is further proof of its leadership solution. He said a significant proportion of this success was achieved “thanks to our partner network, all of whom daily enjoy the benefits provided by our AVG solutions marketing programs.”
Over 110 million users worldwide are said to use the free or paid versions of the popular anti virus software protect their computers and networks. |
