Websense's Patrik Runald, in the company's insights blog observed that hackers are looking to move their networks to countries like Canada, which have better cyber reputations. Websense's recent analysis of Canada’s cyber security risk profile had all trends pointing to Canada as the new launchpad for cybercriminals. For example:

- Increase in Bot Networks saw the command and control centers of cyber criminals move to safer grounds, with the past eight months witnessing a53 percent increase in Canada-based bot networks.
- Malicious Websites based out of Canada saw a slower decline than other countries observed.
- Overall Increase in Cyber Crime – In Websense’s most recent Threat Report, Canada ranked #6 globally for hosting cyber crime.
