Dassault Systèmes, a provider of 3D and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, states that it has signed an agreement with Daegu Metropolitan City and Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority (DGFEZ) for establishing and operation of a new R&D center in Daegu City, Korea.
The center will open in April 2010 and will be dedicated to the development and support of 3D PLM solutions for the shipbuilding industry. The move is said to be a way for Dassault Systèmes to get closer to customers in the Korean shipbuilding industry and in the neighbouring Asia-Pacific region.
Located at the International Cultural District of Daegu Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone, the center will initially accommodate a team of R&D engineers and industry specialists to develop and support innovative and collaborative PLM solutions for shipbuilding.
Dassault Systèmes said it plans to partner with world leading shipbuilders in the region to develop the PLM solutions that they need, resulting in wider discipline coverage and a new level of ease of use. Additionally, the PLM solutions will help companies improve their quality of understanding and communication among all parties involved as they collaborate through 3D Lifelike experience.
The center will also focus on developing local talent and expertise in research, and the deployment of PLM solutions and their associated best practices for the shipbuilding industry. |
