Software giants Bill Gates and Larry Ellison have the Oracle of Omaha neatly sandwiched in the top three on the Forbes' 400 richest people in America list. A number of people from the software world on this, with no less than eight well known software giants part of the top 50 rankings. Microsoft's Bill Gates retains the numero uno position on the list, with a net worth of $54 billion that outpaced friend and co-philanthropist Warren Buffett by $9 billion. Buffett's net worth of $45 billion is well above Oracle's Larry Ellison's $27 billion. Walmart's Christy Walton came has the fourth slot with a net worth of $24 billion, while Charles Koch and David Koch are tied at the fifth place with $21.5 billion. Other famous software people on the list include Google's Larry Page and Sergey Brin, both tied at the eleventh position with a net worth of $15 billion each. Dell's Michael Dell ranks fifteenth with a net worth of $14 billion, just ahead of Microsoft's Steve Ballmer who ranked sixteenth with a net worth of $13.1 billion. Ballmer leads Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, ranked seventeenth with a net worth of $12.7 billion. Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg and James Goodnight of the SAS Institute are tied for the 35th place, each with a net worth of $6.9 billion. Apple / Pixar's Steve Jobs ranks 42nd with a net worth of $6.1 billion, while Google's Eric Schmidt came in 48th with a net worth of $5.45 billion.
