In its December 2009 report titled “Forrester Wave: Email Marketing Service Providers, Q4 2009,” Forrester Research has ranked eight email marketing service vendors in the leaders quadrant of providers.
Evaluating 15 email marketing service providers (ESPs), or vendors, against 69 criteria, Forrester ranked Responsys and ExactTarget at the front of the leader pack, with Acxiom in the same quadrant. On its website, Forrester said all eight leaders were narrowly separated and achieved “Leader” status through innovation and a commitment to advancing client education and sophistication. The 15 evaluated vendors were Acxiom, Alterian, BlueHornet, ClickSquared, Datran Media, e-Dialog, Emailvision, Epsilon, ExactTarget, Experian Marketing Services, Lyris, Responsys, Silverpop, Yesmail, and Zeta Interactive.
Responsys provides on–demand email and cross–channel marketing solutions. The company was previously named as a "Strong Performer" by Forrester Research in its report, "The Forrester Wave™: Cross–Channel Campaign Management (CCCM),” also published in December 2009. In that report, Responsys was positioned as "the only exclusively on–demand vendor and email powerhouse that now extends into CCCM."
ExactTarget accompanied Responsys “at the front of the Leader pack” with perfect scores in product roadmap, vertical strategy, strength of management, executive vision, employees, campaign automation, data security and customer satisfaction. Forrester said ExactTarget vastly expanded its organization to cater to marketers in any market segment.
Forrester said Acxiom was “well equipped to manage large global enterprises particularly in a full-service manner” and had directed investments and organizational development toward digital and multichannel strategies that “create, integrate and optimize engaged consumer experiences across a growing list of channels globally: email, direct mail, mobile, social, Web, display ads, and digital TV.” The research agency said Acxiom was quick in integrating mobile and social functionality “to meet the growing needs of the email marketer.” |
