Google has beefed up revision history tools for documents in Google Docs, adding a revision history tool for spreadsheets. Users can now see changes made by each co-author of the spreadsheet in a different color while working cell-by-cell.
Also added to Google Docs is the ability to upload and watch video. While earlier a video shared via Google Docs had to be downloaded to be played, Google's latest update lets users play many videos right from Google Docs, without the download.
Organizations using Google Apps can now restrict external email from a subset of their users. This week's feature enabled what Google calls an email “walled garden,” that lets organizations protect user groups through limited email accounts to select employees, like contractors. Google Apps now also boasts DKIM email authentication for improved email delivery, which validates outgoing email with DKIM digital signatures to allow receiving email systems to verify the origin of the message through the “sent from” field. This allows better spam filtration as messages with DKIM authentication means lesser outgoing mail finds its way to the recipients’ spam filters.
For enhancing the adoption of Google Chrome across organizations as a successor or alternative to traditional browsers, Google has now added capabilities that allow IT administrators to efficiently deploy and manage Chrome across their organizations. |
