The 15-month old Google Chrome notched up 4.63 percent of browser usage statistics in December 2009, ostensibly on account of the release of its beta version for the Mac OS X and Linux, jumping up from 3.93 percent in November. Apple's Safari now ranks as the fourth most popular browser in the world with its share growing ever so slightly to 4.46 percent in December 2009 against 4.36 percent in November, even though the growth was not enough for it to retain its earlier rank. Mozilla's Firefox open source browser holds second place with a 24.61 percent share, which is down slightly from 24.72 percent in November 2009. Mozilla has gained ground in 2009, inching forward from 22.58 percent in February to its present share. ![]() Image: Net Applications
