HP and Omnifone, an independent provider of unlimited music services, have announced a partnership to distribute the MusicStation Desktop unlimited music service on over 16 HP models across 10 European countries.
HP's Charl Snyman, Vice President, Personal Systems Group, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) said partnering with Omnifone would allow HP to “deliver music to millions of HP PC users across 10 countries in Europe.” The service will provide unlimited access to music tracks from all four major music labels and leading independent labels. The service will come preloaded on the entire range of new HP Pavilion, Compaq Presario and HP Envy models for a 14 day free trial, post which a subscription would be required.
Omnifone is licensed by music labels Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, EMI Music and Warner Music International. Rob Wells, Senior Vice President, Digital, Universal Music Group International said his company is “working closely with PC manufacturers to support the introduction of legitimate music access across mainstream connected consumer electronics.” The adoption of direct delivery to users computers through legitimate downloads can also be seen as an important step to increase availability of music through contemporary mediums.
Rob Lewis, CEO of Omnifone said the HP partnership would see MusicStation Desktop being preinstalled “on multiple HP PCs, available in 7 languages with each territory featuring an individually tailored music catalogue from Omnifone's roster of over 6.5 million tracks. "The service would be available through MusicStation in the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden and Switzerland. |
