IBM is a multinational computer, technology and it-consulting company, headquartered in Armonk, New York. The company which later became IBM, was founded in 1896 by Herman Hollerith. IBM produces hardware and software, and offers services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology. IBM is the largest IT services company and the second largest software company in the world. In 2009, the company has received the most US patents for the 17th consecutive year. The main software products of IBM are Webspere, DB2, Lotus, Tivoli and Cognos.
