IBM has partnered Schneider Electric as part of a smarter buildings solution to improve energy performance for buildings. The two companies aim to assist organizations in reducing their energy operating costs up to 30 percent as well as realize environmental responsibility goals through active energy management practices.
IBM said energy efficiency is critical as today's buildings consume 42 percent of all electricity and by 2025, they would be the largest emitters of greenhouse gas emissions on the planet. To make its point, IBM cited the example of Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island, which has seen a 15 percent reduction in energy consumption at its data center, and is now anticipating campus wide savings from 50 buildings on 428 acres.
The two companies have a decade long relationship for building energy efficient data centers, and are now expanding the association to buildings across industries. The duo will focus on energy management, building systems management and systems integration and enterprise efficiency. |
