James Gosling, the creator of the Java programming language, has moved over to Google. Gosling had quit Oracle in April last year, months after it acquired Microsystems in 2009. A critic of the software giant, at the time Gosling said Oracle micromanaged his work and reduced his salary. He also spoke of incidents post the acquisition and blogged that it was evident from the integration meetings between Sun and Oracle that a patent spat between Oracle and Google was imminent. He said as employees of Sun Microsystems, they were “grilled” about the patent situation between Sun and Google, and that he said he “could see the Oracle lawyer's eyes sparkle” at those meetings.“Through some odd twists in the road over the past year, and a tardis encountered along the way, I find myself starting employment at Google today,” he wrote on his personal blog. He said he had a hard time saying "no" to other excellent possibilities, but is “taking the road more travelled by, but it looks like interesting fun with huge leverage.” From his post, he expects to be working on “a bit of everything, seasoned with a large dose of grumpy curmudgeon.”
