McAfee, Inc. has said that it has entered into a worldwide agreement with HP to provide preinstalled McAfee Total Protection Service on HP StorageWorks X500 Data Vault series storage devices. The service is presently available as a 90-day trial subscription through HP.
HP's director of marketing for StorageWorks, Lee Johns said McAfee was chosen as customers wanted to share important documents, photos and media files with assured protection from viruses and spy ware. “When our customers access a file on their HP Data Vault device, McAfee Total Protection Service automatically scans and blocks viruses, spy ware, unwanted programs and other potential Internet threats to ensure greater security.”
Todd Gebhart, executive vice president of McAfee's consumer and small business segment said his company's service is the industry’s first Security-as-a-Service solution to offer “always-on guard” protection without additional investments in on-premise infrastructure. “McAfee’s service is trusted and designed to deliver security that is always on, always ready and always up-to-date,” he said.
McAfee's Total Protection Service leverages the software as a service (SaaS) technology which the company has used for over ten years. It provides integrated endpoint, email and web protection with access to SecurityCenter, an online console managed by McAfee and available over the Internet. |
