Microsoft Corp. has announced the availability of Microsoft Office 2010, Microsoft Visio 2010 and Microsoft Project 2010, across 35,000 retail stores wordwide, through online retailers and direct from Microsoft's Office.com
The productivity suite would also be available with computers from leading manufacturers including Acer Inc., Asus, Dell Inc., HP, Lenovo, Samsung and Sony Corp. Microsoft said that in the next year, over 100 million PCs will ship with Office 2010 preloaded, which could be activated through the purchase of a product key card for any one of three versions of Office 2010 – Home and Student, Home and Business, or Professional. Currently, Office 2010 is available in 10 languages and will expand to 94 languages, Microsoft said.
Microsoft's statement quoted comScore senior vice president as saying that recent comScore Tech Metrix data confirmed over a billion PCs worldwide to have Office software installed, “making it the most widely used productivity suite in the world.”
Marketed with the tag line “make it great”, Microsoft touted seven reasons to try Office 2010, including its new Outlook Social Connector, linked notes in OneNote, Sparklines in Excel, Photo editing in Word, Video and broadcast capabilities in Power Point, Office Web Apps, and a “ribbon” that can be personalized to access favorite commands quickly, and customize or create tabs to match individual work styles.
