Mobile TeleSystems (MTS) is now Russia's first telecom operator to have outsourced its network operations. In a deal with Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), MTS plans to reduce overall costs while increasing organizational flexibility, transparency and the predictability of operational expenses. The agreement, NSN said in its statement, will also allow MTS to simplify its overall network operations model, which is especially important with the rollout of 3G services for millions of subscribers in Russia’s central region.
MTS will outsource daily operation and maintenance of its entire mobile network across Central Russia to NSN as part of a five-year managed services deal, transferring around 250 employees to the latter under the terms of the deal.
Aleksander Popovsky, director of MTS Russia said the deal will enable MTS to “substantially optimize network operations and increase efficiency while keeping service experience high for our customer base." NSN said it presently has over 240 managed services contracts in mobile and fixed networks, servicing over 300 million subscribers on customer networks. |
