Norwegian software company Opera has announced the availability of version 10.50 of its Opera browser for the Windows platform. The upgrade includes a speed boost numerous enhancements, and versions for Linux and Mac are expected soon. Opera 10.50, according to Opera Software, is the fastest Web browser thus-far produced for Windows computers. It boasts a sleek and refined new design and features such as private browsing where the browser masks all traces of visited sites.
 Opera says improvements to the look and feel “are many, but the result is a leaner browsing experience, so you have more room on screen for content.” The menu bar is replaced by a new Opera menu button to make for single-point to access all features. The browser features a new JavaScript engine, Carakan, and a new graphics library called Vega, which Opera says help make it the fastest browser “we have ever produced.” Opera's private browsing feature allows for removal of specific sites from the browsing history and allows private browsing browse privately in a tab or in an entirely separate window. The browser retains earlier “old favorite” features such as Opera Turbo, Opera Unite and Opera Link.
"Opera 10.50 is the fastest browser in almost all speed tests," said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera. He said Opera 10.50 is designed to be be easy to use “ while making our unique features stand out, so you can get more out of the web." Opera 10.50 includes improved standards support for HTML5 and CSS3, giving web designers the tools they need to make eye-catching web applications that work on completely open technologies.
 For now Opera 10.50 is available for free download or via Microsoft's browser choice screen currently Windows, and in 42 different languages. Mac and Linux versions to follow soon. |
