Price war in e-readers |
|
|
![]() A price war has broken out in the e-reader market, with bookseller Barnes & Noble dropping the price of its wi-fi only Nook e-reader to $149 while simultaneously reducing the price of the wi-fi and 3G Nook to $199. To prevent a deluge of Nooks already sold during their father’s day promotion, B&N is said to be offering a $10 refund and $50 gift card to customers who are still within their 14-day return policy period. Amazon.com also cut the price of its Kindle2 3G e-reader device to $189. Borders Group Inc. is also reported to be selling the Kobo e-reader with a $20 gift card to attract customers, even though it says it will maintain the price of the Kobo at $149.99.
