IT security and data protection firm Sophos has said that PC-maker Lenovo now be operate as a Sophos global channel partner, offering Sophos security and data protection technology bundled with new Lenovo Think-branded PCs to corporate customers. The computer maker will also promote Sophos’s threat protection solution.
 Mike McGuinness, senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations at Sophos said the opportunity offers proactive endpoint security to Lenovo customers in a scenario when businesses are being bombarded with an increasing number of sophisticated threats and tighter regulations to secure confidential data. He said Sophos has a unique approach in securing the endpoint and sensitive data, wrapping multiple technologies into a single solution. The solution bundle comprises anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, HIPS, application control, NAC, DLP, and encryption.
The partnership extends a longstanding relationship between Lenovo and Utimaco, a data encryption vendor acquired by Sophos in 2009. Utimaco integrates SafeGuard Encryption technology with Lenovo’s ThinkVantage Technologies productivity tools.
Peter Schrady, vice president and general manager, Software, Peripherals and Enterprise Products, Lenovo said his company is working with Sophos to give Lenovo customers strong PC hardware and software security. Lenovo customers can now choose between security technologies, including hardware features like fingerprint readers and encrypted hard drives and Sophos’s threat protection software tools. |
