Zynga has said that Ricardo Quesada and Rolando Abarca, who are key contributors to the renowned cocos2d for iPhone open source project, are joining its team as part of its acquisition of some of the assets of Sapus Media.
Ricardo and Rolando board Zynga though the acquisition of certain assets of Sapus Media. Prior to the acquisition, Ricardo and Rolando focused on developing professional tools for mobile game developers as well as advancing the widely used cocos2d for iPhone open source project. The cocos2d for iPhone open source project is popular with developers across the world, including larger gaming players such as Atari, ngmoco, Gamevil and Zynga, in the development of leading mobile games for Apple's iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and Mac.
“Ricardo and Rolando bring amazing mobile developer talent to the Zynga mobile team as we look to create and deliver the best social mobile gaming experience for our players anytime and on any device,” Zynga said on its blog. It also said that games and applications would continue to operate on cocos2d for iPhone “as they always have,” though it did not acquire the community site, cocos2d-iphone.org, “which will continue to be managed separately by Ricardo along with the other cocos2d for iPhone administrators.” |
